The Bloggers That Couldn't

This "social justice" thing has a large yellow streak through it

    Ophelia Benson was offered a guest spot on the A-News podcast today. She accepted too.  Then when she learned  the details ( I am a co-host on the show) She pulled out (so to speak) Ophelia has done public speaking before right? So it isn't that she is unable to speak in public. What is it with these people who gleefully libel and slander people left and right showing no ability to grasp the concept of responsible behavior in even its basic form? They can spout off constantly claiming they want the world to be a better place but can't be bothered to actually talk about it with anyone who doesn't already subscribe to their thinking. What is Ophelia Benson worried about? Does she think I am  going to come through her computer monitor and steal all her cat food from her or somethin?  Even if I was a ranting prick to her all she would have to do is hang up. She would then have a REAL example of someone behaving the way she has been claiming. That would also provide her with something else she yearns for. I think you could call it the "holy grail" of freethought blogs , credibility. No one there has it but they all long for it. Over and over again they have tried to claim they possess it but it always turns out to be made out of the same stuff you find in Mr Rodgers neighborhood, make-believe and sock puppets. I find it laughable that any of these 'social justice warriors'  really think that by avoiding human interaction with anyone except those who smile and nod the world is going to give them any consideration. What a huge waste of time. I have a standing offer to anyone who wants to offer their side of things and have a real back and forth conversation. No one can claim I am unable to do anything but rant, all they need to do is take a look at the list of people who have been guests on my podcasts. From christ-followers, to people who claim they can heal burned flesh through a phone text message, psychics, ghost hunters, and even an Oolon. Add to that list the number of well known/not so well known atheists and other guests. I have more than proven myself able to have an adult conversation there is no valid excuse to decline especially if you really believe in the words coming out of your mouth or popping out of your keyboard. I can't imagine what it must be like to not be able to stand up for what you believe in because it is so fragile and weak. If you remove it from the protective wrapper of your warped perception it will be crushed under the weight of common sense, how good could it be really? I don't even disagree with everything they find fault with but we will never find common ground as long as they refuse to exchange ideas and instead only attack or misrepresent. I they can't even manage to find a way to get along with other skeptics and atheists how could they possibly think they can win a battle with religious people over all the things they are hoping to change? Not a chance



 There are some disturbing tendencies among  skeptics/atheists I'd like to bring your attention to

• Banning people for disagreeing. I'm not talking about people making stupid claims like the earth is actually a large piece of bubble-gum. I'm talking about people who think maybe everyone should be treated equally and anyone can be a victim of discrimination. It happens more to some groups than others, but that doesn't mean anyone is immune. Blocking instead of answering valid questions/concerns or to avoid showing what you claim is accurate, or blocking people you are publicly criticizing  in order to keep them from answering to that criticism are also 'in' behaviors among many.  The point has been made that people are allowed to run their web pages as they see fit and I agree but just because they can and do doesn't mean they aren't being a little irresponsible and underhanded. remember when  a skeptic/atheist would trip over themselves to answer someone who questioned their claims or demanded proof? Those days are long gone in some places.

• The redefining of words to fit a certain social movements agenda. A lot of people are abusing the  phrase "definitions change over time" Yes, they do change but if you are aware of that then you should be smart enough to know the old usage doesn't just shrink into a little ball of light and blink out in front of everyone one day and no one sends out regular memos which are posted on front doors to announce any change. It takes time for the most familiar definition to fall out of use if it ever does at all. 

• Paralinguistic cues. This is a widespread problem since we have become more exposed to 'text only' interactions. Language also isn't always easy to understand especially when you are reading the written word. Text does not carry mannerisms or paralinguistic cues . This causes people like Adam Lee to make assumptions and come to incorrect conclusions about other people he has never met. Adam doesn't understand there is always more to a person than what can be guessed by reading a twitter feed or a blog. 

•  Censorship. There have been an incredible amount of attempts to "quiet the opposition"  among some atheist/skeptics. Flagging videos, blocking people before you even have any exchange with them. Character assassinations, shunning, calling for people to pick one side of an issue and force anyone who isn't on your side out of any discussion. Dismissing entire groups of people based on who they choose to interact with rather than considering them based on their actions and words. All these things are counterproductive. Behaving in this manner limits our ability to progress and interact. If you surround yourself with people who agree with you on all aspects of life you start to think your opinion is the most reasonable because everyone you know agrees. Social interaction is complicated and the more open you are to differing opinions the easier it will be to make sure everyone is treated equally.

• The lack of inclination or need to explain your position/conclusions to others. Many skeptic/atheists do not feel it is important to explain why they feel the way they do about certain subjects. They expect others to just 'get it' because it seems so simple to them. Anyone who doesn't fall in line is either the enemy, stupid, or just unworthy of being shown any respect. PZ Myers is a great example of this. Now I know PZ has been very supportive of me and I don't mean to insult him but, to be honest, PZ is like a conceited,  bitter, vindictive, bully. He is far too busy to ever make sure his point is clear or to make a case for his side of an argument. He is to important to be bothered by silly details like being accurate and honest. It is much easier to shut down the critics by shutting off the comments and/or  banning them when (or sometimes before) they  post presenting a counter opinion. If we could harness the condescension  and  arrogance contained in PZ's head it could power 3 states an still be enough to run the intense limelight he thinks constantly shines on him. 

I'd like to also address Ellenbeth Wachs for removing and blocking me without a word. A while back I did a podcast in support of her getting out from under some crap from a  sheriff in Florida. I have had her on as a guest on my podcast because I liked her and I thought the actions taken against her were just plain wrong. I was happy to help her get her story to the public and maybe keep someone else from  going through the same treatment in the future. I  thought we had a mutual respect for each other. I haven't agreed with a lot of what she has been doing/saying lately but I have kept relativity quiet about it. Sometimes it's better if friends don't talk about certain things cause it will only lead to trouble. I found out Ellenbeth had removed me by chance. There was some rude jerk named Matthew who had been hitting me up on PM and asking about  Ellenbeth.  This guy was annoying as hell and I ended up telling him to go fuck himself. I then figured I should pass on to her that some dude was possibly up to no good. I couldn't send the message cause I was blocked. Irony huh? So maybe let that be a lesson to you. Before you start listening to people like Stephanie Zvan and PZ Lyers and allowing them to influence who you associate with based on what could only be described as knowledge from psychic powers , maybe think about the actions of that person. Especially actions taken on your behalf. Or maybe consider your personal interaction with that person more valuable than the opinion of someone who has never met them.  I know for a fact Ellenbeth has shunned several people who have never done her any harm and would have her back  if she needed them, not to mention the harm she has done to her credibility as she isolates herself. I hope she gives pause and thinks about these things. Hopefully before she tries to accuse another good person like Bridget Gaudette of being part of the problem with the skeptic/atheist/feminist movement. Bridget has been a voice of reason among extremes and she has shown far more patience towards critics than I ever could or would. She doesn't deserve all the venom that has been directed towards her much less to have another persons warped perception forced on her.

Stephanie Zvan uses her psychic power to find and hunt down misogynists..or something

  Here is a list of some of the people I've had conversations with on ReapSowRadio and The Angry Atheist podcasts.
This doesn't include everyone, but it is probably about 60% and I think it shows a few of things that contradict the people who want you to believe all I do is scream "motherfucker" into the microphone (PZ Myers) am not smart enough to have a conversation with cause I "just can't get it" (Stephanie Zvan), use language that isn't approved by  Adam 'uptight whiner' Lee (Adam Lee)  or any of the other bullshit claims that I am some fool who rants for no reason whatsoever.(Lousy Canuck, Ed Brayton Ophelia Benson ect ...) I also must be the only person on the planet who gets angry. It could be I'm impossible to get along with for even a short period of time. I'm relatively sure all the people listed below would disagree, that's why they are not the ones making those claims. Funny how the people who can't/won't talk to me seem to think they know the most about me, they all find time to blog about me though don't they? How brave and noble of them they sure know how to get stuff done. .

Ed Brayton-Who is the Bitch Now?

  
  In case you haven't heard...Ed Brayton is all weepy and sad cause I used the word "bitch" when describing that dick Stephanie Zvan. After catching hell from Adam Lee who believes he is entitled to dictate who says what to whom and how atheists spend their time on what. Then hearing about Ed Brayton posting his problems with my choice of words. Ed was so worked up about this important issue he was writing about it instead of concentrating on his recovery from surgery. That's right, it is that important. Let's not forget PZ who took my opinion of Stephanie and turned it into me being a misogynist, sexist, ranting asshole with a shitty radio show who is banned forever from his awesome incredible blog where he launches personal attacks on a regular basis and allows commenters to make up whatever crazy shit they want to about people while he remains silent.( I post on PZ's blog anyways when I am in the mood...shhhh He will never figure it out) Anyhoways, after all that I was thinking maybe I was wrong. It seems like I see/hear lots of people use the word "bitch" in different forms all the time. Many times it isn't gender specific, just like when I used it to describe Stephanie Zvan, leader of the world and co-dictator of proper behavior (along with Adam Lee) I turned to the internet and searched for the answer to my question- Should I be allowing people like Adam Lee to advise me how to speak? I typed in Ed Brayton bitch thinking that the search phrase would possibly lead me to a website where Ed had videos posted of him instructing people how to speak without offending anyone as a large FTB sign flashed in the background...or something like that.     Just to make sure you all understand me I am not saying PZ is a bad person for allowing the use of the word bitch, ( I am a little worried about how readily PZ and company hand over their testicles)  that Ed Brayton should be censored, or that anyone should stop using any specific words. I am making the same argument about what has been the biggest barrier between  FTB, A+, the Skepchicks, and the rest of the world. Hypocrisy. Hold yourself to the same standards as you would others in similar circumstances.

I don't know about you but 94,000 seem like a lot. It seems people like Ed Brayton, Adam Lee, Stephanie Zvan, and PZ Myers would do well to clean up their own house before complaining about anyone else. From the search I can see there is a show called "Godless Bitches" (free plug -you're welcome) maybe Ed should tell them how he feels about their use of the word "bitch". Maybe PZ should tell them not to bother trying to comment on his blog because they are sexist. Somehow I doubt that will happen.


    There are a few problems that need to be solved before any of this crap can end. One is the hypocrisy. It's not that hard to apply the rules for behavior evenly. It doesn't matter if you are a 'scientist' who writes what was at one time a respected blog, if you are Joe Common who is commenting on that blog, or Mary Attendee going to a conference the rules need to be applied equally. At least be consistent in your criticism if you must be critical of others. Second is learn how the internet works and accept the fact. This should be followed by acting accordingly. The internet is like a big machine, say a washing machine for example. If you go to the washing machine and you tell it "I cut my hand on a piece of glass and it hurts" How will the washing machine reply to that? It will slosh around make a bunch of bubbles spin in circles splash some more, spin some more and then just sit there. It will sit there, cold, uncaring, and quiet. It won't give you a hug, in fact sometimes it will start rocking as it spins and tip over landing on top of you. Do this- When your washing machine is spinning grab an article of clothing and toss it in. Don't try to hold on to it or you will get hurt. Just toss it in and observe what happens? That is how the internet works. Whatever you throw in it gets caught up with the spinning and turns into a blur. It doesn't care how much you cry or complain. It doesn't care about anyone or anything, it just sloshes and spins and goes quiet. It doesn't give a shit. Accept it.
  Third. You are not psychic. No one can know who or what another person is thinking or believes if they have never met and even then you can't be sure cause you aren't in their head. I'm not saying you can never know another  persons motives for sure but...yes I am saying that. I love it when someone who is a couple thousand miles away and has never had any exchange with me whatsoever can make claims as to what kind of person I am or what my motives are. I can assure you that is impossible because even I am not 100% sure at times. Everyone should be able to relate to that sentiment IMO otherwise you are too conceited for your own good.
  As long as we have popular people who are calling themselves skeptics/atheists while behaving like con-men and frauds there will be a problem. PZ Myers doesn't get it and Ed Brayton doesn't either. Many people think this is a conflict where both sides are at fault. Those people say "I just wish both sides would grow up" It isn't that easy. The entire reason the slymepit exists is because of the bullshit, lies, and hypocrisy from certain people. There is no one who is telling lies about PZ, Ed, Ophelia, Stephanie, Jason, Adam, Melody or any of the other people mentioned in the slymepit. There is a difference of opinion with those people and it is because they are not being skeptical. If anyone starts telling outright lies about another person you can be sure I will not be a part of it and I will speak out against it if it is brought to my attention. There is no reason to lie or cover for your buddies. Doing so only makes you look foolish and damages your credibility.
 No one wants to deal with a load of bullshit and hypocrisy especially in the skeptical/atheist circles, there is plenty of that in  politics/religion for us to deal with as it is.
 The best thing people can do now is try to step back and take a look at the behavior of people trying to condemn others for being misogynist, sexist, evil, MRAs. Take a look at their behavior. Don't use the word "context" to excuse it, don't apply anything to it, just take it as it is. Isn't "context" a term we often hear used by religious people to excuse the way biblical verses are applied?
   I'm getting kinda tired of people who don't know me explaining to other people who don't know me what it is I am all about. Very few people are educated enough to explain to others what I think and/or believe and that number is one, me.

  Adam Lee @daylightatheism on twitter is the latest A+ idiot to accuse me of being a misogynist.Want to know why? Because I called Stephanie Zvan a bitch. Yes I did and I will continue to do so until she either stops being a bitch or I start to forget to do so.
 Adam Lee seems to think he can tell me how to express myself, to the point where he will decide what words I will use.  I have a very disappointing fact to share with Adam Lee.  That's not gonna happen in a million fucking years. There is nothing Adam can do that will stop me from saying whatever I choose in any way I choose as often as I choose wherever the fuck I choose.
 I already went through this crap with that moronic PZ Myers over Stephanie Zvan now this twit suddenly figures he has nothing better to do than create a personality for me that gives him an enemy to fight. It also provides him with a counter argument to Al Stefanelli while debating the feminism issue. The only reason I make for a good example is because Adam made up the specifics to suit his needs. After reading Adam's facebook  page it looks like to me he wants to become famous. His about me is a collection of things he thinks make him look important or cool. It has always been my belief such a display is a result of low self esteem. Keep in mind originally he had a problem with my use of the word "bitch" then moved on to accuse me of approving of sex tapes made about women I don't like......

And then we have Adam and Al Stefanelli on twitter. Adam is clearly being an idiot. He sounds like a small child telling his mother about something a sibling has done wrong in order to get some attention.

Porn? Only To Adam Lee

The "sex tape" Adam is referring to is a gif of a dog trying to have sex with a cow as you can see here. I don't consider this porn and I never actually thought that cow was Stephanie Zvan or the dog Greg Laden. Obviously Adam Lee does think Stephanie Zvan is a cow. He is convinced I have proved myself a misogynist because I think it is funny to joke about making sex tapes of women I don't like. For the record I would joke about a man or a woman making sex tapes whether I liked them or not. I'm fair that way. But this isn't a sex tape it's a gif file of a dog attempting to gratify itself on a disinterested cow. I don't want to know what Adam Lee's collection of porn in his home looks like if this is an example of a sex tape to him.  

  Since Adam seemed so intent on dictating what terms I am allowed to use I figured I would take a look at his website and see exactly where this guy was coming from. The second post I read says this-

Really Adam? After reading that I can only assume Adam is full of shit any way you look at it. His whole displeasure of me calling Stephanie Zvan a bitch is just an attempt to win an argument and to get some needed attention drawn to himself. It's the only explanation that makes sense considering the weakness of his position. Adam go back to high school. You could learn a thing or two about maturity from those kids and while you are at it join the debating team you could use some instruction in that skill also. You are pathetic and inept.

 

Stephanie- The Queen Bitch Dick

Since there has been so much outcry among the FTB and A+ idiots about my calling Stephanie Zvan a bitch I am going to recant that statement. From this point on I will refer to Stephanie Zvan as a dick. Not dick as in penis, dick as in a huge jerk, a person who is unintelligent and annoying and treats other in a manner which is rude and/or condescending. In order to support my opinion I will offer the following statements from Stephanie Zvan..I mean dick

Regarding Justin Vacula and the SCA. Stephanie petitioned for Justin's removal. This is what first caused me to see Stephanie as a bitch (now upgraded to dick) Stephanie doesn't even live in PA and she has never met Justin. She acted on emotion and the need to bully pure and simple.
Stephanie writes-

 1. He has engaged in extreme behavior, including harassment, in opposing feminists within the secular movement which does not befit a leader and does not promote broad participation in the movement.


 2. He has, at the same time, minimized harassment as a problem within the movement and broader community.


 We believe it is inappropriate for such a representative to have unapologetically published on the site A Voice for Men, which describes itself: "AVfM regards feminists, manginas, white knights and other agents of misandry as a social malignancy. We do not consider them well intentioned or honest agents for their purported goals and extend to them no more courtesy or consideration than we would clansmen, skinheads, neo Nazis or other purveyors of hate." We further consider it inappropriate for Vacula to have used this site, monitored by the Southern Poverty Law Center, as a platform for attacking a fellow, feminist secularist.


 Not only has Vacula dismissed the harassment as unimportant, he has participated in it himself. He has participated very actively in the #FTBullies and #atheismplus campaigns, where anti-harassment and inclusion efforts are characterized as censorship, totalitarianism, dogmatism, group-think, and bullying (among the more polite terms). He has written blog posts on these topics that he promoted using those campaigns.


 He has been a regular commenter at what is now known as The Slyme Pit, a group dedicated to hatred of Rebecca Watson and anyone who is or is perceived to ally with her on matters of "radical" feminism. This group has produced threats requiring the attention of organizers of two different conferences and has been home to the cyberstalking Vacula defended as perfectly fine for "public figures". Vacula has participated in this group both before and after it was removed from National Geographic's ScienceBlogs website for violating nearly every provision of the site's code of conduct.


 In another, he reacted to the news that the #atheismplus campaign had triggered the chronic depression of Jennifer McCreight, causing her to stop her public activism. Jen is a blogger, speaker, and vice chair of the Secular Student Alliance board. Rather than noting that harassment that leads to results like this is bad for the movement he is trying to lead, he tweeted, "So, Jen’s allegedly finished blogging…and this time it’s not her boyfriend who kicked her off the internet." She trashes Justin because he doesn't support feminism. One of Justin's blogs was posted on a men's rights website that isn't okay with Stephanie, I assume because she doesn't think men have rights. Stephanie also condemns Justin because he is a member of the Slymepit forum. She describes the forum as dedicated to hating Rebecca Watson which is a complete lie. She also claims the forum is responsible for threats. Stephanie couldn't prove any of this if her life depended on it. It is all bullshit. She then goes on to complain because Justin wasn't sad when Jen McCreight removed herself from blogging. News Flash- A collective sigh of relief went up when Jen said she was not going to blog anymore. Stephanie Zvan's  entire case against Justin Vacula was made up of honest mistakes by Justin, lies, emotion, and protecting her friends no matter what role they played in events. I know the mistakes made by Justin were not of malicious intent because I know Justin and I told him he needed to be more careful to not allow those things to happen again. Justin agreed and said those were not mistakes he would make in the future. Justin Vacula is an activist on line and in real life he is articulate and able to have a reasonable discussion without name calling and personal attacks. Many people see any criticism as a personal attack. Stephanie Zvan is one of those people. She is so stuck up she can't even see her own bias. She was just being vindictive towards Justin and that make her a bitch. Ed Brayton the FTB owner and King Idiot

      You may be wondering why you haven't heard Ed's name from me before. That is because Ed really hasn't had much to do with the skepchick crap, PZ and his insane antics, or any of the other moronic loons telling lies and being self-righteous jerks on his little network. He owns Freethought blogs but I never held him responsible for what others were writing. He didn't seem to be very intelligent to allow something he had created be turned into a laughingstock but that was his business.

  It turns out that loudmouth Ed Brayton has fallen into and under control of PZ Myers. Ed yesterday publicly accused me of being sexist and claimed I called Stephanie Zvan a bitch (I did ) and a cunt ( I did not) He then went on to judge Al Sefanelli based on my alleged  behavior. I don't know why people like Ed Brayton insist on making others responsible for my actions but they really need to learn how the world works. Another lesson Ed and his merry band of morons would be better off knowing is how not to be a hypocrite. Over and over Freethought bloggers and A+ idiots have been crying and complaining about behavior they disapprove of when it is painfully easy to find public displays of them doing the same fucking things if not worse. PZ calling a volunteer up on stage only to treat her like a creepy drunk old man in a strip bar. "Hey honey if you wanna have some sex with me I ain't gonna stop ya" That is the same kinda shit PZ pulled on a stage, with an unsuspecting victim he hand picked. Or  complaining about Justin Vacula putting Surly Amy's address on the net (an accident) and then excusing Greg Laden for doing the same on purpose just because he was that hard up to try and get a win against superior wit. Let's not forget Surly Amy posting the link to Justin's posting on the net only making what she thought was bad, worse.  I hate to see what would happen if someone posted naked pics of Surly Amy on the net she would be posting the link all over the place and saying " Look at these naked pics of me. Some jerk has been posting them all over the net. Make sure you share this link so people know what a jerk that guy is. He is trying to allow everyone to see me naked OMFG!"

 It's this same story over and over. Canuck, acting like he knows anything about social interaction when it's obvious he is not capable of getting his thoughts across using the spoken word. At parties he must hand out a paper introducing himself so he doesn't get it all screwed up. When he tries to be part of a conversation he has to run to the printer and get a copy of his blogged reply when asked a question. Even then you can understand what the fuck he is trying to say only about 10% of the time.

  And that dick Stephanie Zvan bragging about being called a bitch and unfairly judging people. Stephanie is so oblivious to other people's perceptions of her it almost brings a tear to my eye. She writes about how no one is a challenge to her  superior intellect while she gets hers ass handed to her in the world outside of FTB. Stephanie just doesn't step out of the golden bubble she lives in, if she did she would be as embarrassed as we have been for her all this time. If ignorance is bliss Stephanie Zvan is multi-orgasmic, lucky her.

  I will give Ed credit for one point. Like I mentioned earlier I shouldn't have called Stephanie Zvan a bitch so now I consider her a dick. As it turns out Ed Brayton is the bitch in this sad display of rampant stupidity. I had made it a point up until now to mention that not all FTB bloggers were a part of this gang of idiots and I still believe  most are not falling into the abyss of hypocrisy and denial but Ed has made it clear what the position of FTB is so those people who disagree with his libelous declarations and his defending all the behavior that has caused such a deep divide among skeptics and atheists may want to find a new home for their blogs unless they don't mind being directly associated with the owner and his opinions.  Ed has made it clear he is not neutral in this, he sides with liars and narcissists, lunatics, and whiners. 

 If Ed thinks anyone on the side of truth and reason is going to give up and allow his gang of disinformation warriors run around unchecked he has been smoking too much weed. That is not going to happen. I will however take my gloves off. If he didn't like me before he knew me then he really isn't gonna like me as he gets to know me now that he has been talking shit about me in public. Ed you don't like me? I don't give a shit
